Was trying to embed this one executable application we called it sifoo into my educational site.. so far what i did was to provide the link to the students so that when they click on the link they can view the sifoo by downloading it..(saving or running the file).. users will get this dialogbox first
But how can i make the executable to appear within the content page instead of in another window?
hmm.. good question indeed!
I surf and surf and surf.... found a lot of helpful stuff.. especially this one
So first step is to Convert the executable file into a Flash SWF.. again uncle google is superb. However it is really really hard to get a so-called free converter.. some offer the conversion from swf to exe, but what i really wanted is the other way around.
I found this freeware but when I perform the operation the program gave me so many swf files..
My search later on proved to be useless.. so I stop.
Next, i tried another strategy... since I have many swf files, so i search for 'merging swf files into 1'.. i found this very useful link
But again, it's NOT FREE.. damn!
This time, I surf again, and at the same time asking for God's blessing.. I'm doing this for the sake of my students.. please help me go through this.. have spent so many days on this effort alone.. please God.. help me.. ya Allah tolonglah hambamu ini..
At last I found this . A truly free one.. offers a tool to convert from from exe to swf.. YES.. just the one i was looking for.. check the name - naseer.. in arabic naseer means 'helper'.. and ohh.. conversion is really easy.. **
BUT... fuuhhhh.. when i run the swf, it was not as expected.. it plays only the animation... and i lost the content. hmm... just don't know what else to do.. stuck! ... waittt... i think i know why.. it's not a flash executable.. it comes from the director instead!
and a quick surf showed that converting from director exe to swf is not at all permitted.. read this.. and this is a good stuff to learn about director and flash.
Note that here explains something very important as shown below:
Flash is still popular but many are predicting its demise as HTML 5 and alternative solutions are introduced.
so the solution? must go back to Macromedia Director MX 2004!!
** another conversion program is here at this link.. use the evaluation copy..

Warning
You should consider very carefully before using Director for web design, few end-users have the required plug-in installed (Shockwave player) and Director is no longer a popular choice for developers. At present (2010) we are expecting Adobe to discontinue it. It is still used for CD-ROM development but we would recommend web sites as a better interface solution.Flash is still popular but many are predicting its demise as HTML 5 and alternative solutions are introduced.
